A rapid immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Etomidate (ETO) in oral fluid specimens, ensuring fast and non-invasive drug screening.
This test is intended for professional in vitro diagnostic use. It detects Etomidate in oral fluid samples at standard cut-off levels and provides preliminary screening results. For confirmation of positive outcomes, more specific analytical methods such as gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS) should be used. Clinical discretion is advised in result interpretation.
Etomidate is a short-acting intravenous anesthetic valued for its cardiovascular stability, frequently used in emergency procedures. However, its misuse has become a growing concern, particularly due to side effects like myoclonus and abuse-related incidents. As demand increases for fast, instrument-free testing methods, oral fluid screening offers a highly practical alternative to urine or blood analysis. The ETO Oral Fluid Test allows immediate detection with minimal handling or equipment.
The ETO Rapid Test operates on a competitive immunoassay principle. Etomidate, if present in the oral fluid specimen above the cut-off concentration, competes with an Etomidate–protein conjugate for limited antibody binding sites on the test line. A visible colored line will appear in the test region for negative samples. In contrast, the absence of a test line indicates a positive result. A control line confirms the proper function of the test.
